This annual Music Festival is brought to Gibraltar by MTV and features massive line ups of some of the best pop acts of that year. For instance 2017 saw the likes of Jessie J, Go West, The Vaccines and Years and Years grace the stage. Stationed in the Victoria stadium overlooking the Rock of Gibraltar, this festival is one of the not to be missed international MTV festivals. Held on the 8th of September every year since 2012, the event is increasing in popularity with every year that goes by.
44th Gibraltar International Art Exhibition
The 44th International Art Competition takes place between the 23rd and 27th of October and is one fo the cultural highlights of the year. Here you can find a range of galleries showcasing some fo the best in international art. New artists can submit their piece for competition, including a first prize named the Gustavo acarisas Prize being £4000 and a second prize of £2000. Another award is the Rudesindo Mannia for the best Gibraltar theme and the Sovereign Art Foundation prize for young artists. This second prize is for those between 16 and 24 and is a great way to kick start your career as an artist.
Gibraltar Literary Festival
The Gibraltar Literary Festival occurs on the 16th to the 19th of November this year. Using the rock itself as a venue, the literary festival has pulled in countless well known authors from across the world, allowing people to be educated and inspired, whatever their age. With venues such as the Garrison Library, Kings Chapel and Mackintosh Hall, this festival is not one to miss for the book worms out there.
